Hugs for Heroes, Inc. was founded in 2004 by a former Boston College student in the Honors Program Class of 2010 after she attended a high school leadership conference in Washington, D.C. There she heard Lt. Col. Scott Rutter US Army (Ret.) speak of the many hardships our troops endure. He also said that mail day was often the loneliest day of the week. This man and his words inspired Hugs for Heroes, Inc., to let our servicemen and women know that we appreciate all they do for us, and that they are not forgotten here at home.
Hugs for Heroes, Inc. began in 2004 with the names of two Marine Units from a Marine who had recently returned from Iraq. Since then, Hugs for Heroes, Inc. has shipped over 8 tons of goods to our troops serving overseas. Shipments include a variety of nutritious snacks, notes, toiletries, socks, duct tape and many personal items, and have enough of each item for every member in the unit. Many units receive multiple shipments.
Hugs for Heroes, Inc. continues to be an all volunteer, nonprofit organization. Our work would not be possible without support from schools, churches, civic organizations, businesses, members of the community, families of those deployed, and individuals like you who want to show support for our troops.
Thank you for your continued support.
